Overview
Wolverhampton based Digital Imaging Services (DIS) approached DPI to help them with their vision to transform the player’s tunnel for Premier League football team, Wolverhampton Wanderers. DIS knew exactly what they needed and didn’t want to take any shortcuts – skimping on quality was not an option.
As part of their refurbishment plan, the goal was to create a dramatic and intimidating environment that shouts success and competitiveness. This will be seen by not only the opposition teams walking from their changing rooms to the pitch, but also on TV when the media are filming at the beginning of matches.

The Challenge
Before the idea of installing lightboxes, the player’s tunnel was very plain, uninspiring and lacked all-important energy players need to rile up before a game. It was our goal to inject life back into the tunnel through LED lightboxes to create a striking, bright and impressive space both the team and fans can be proud of.
LED lightboxes can vary dramatically in quality, but for such a prestigious client as Wolverhampton Wanderers, DIS wanted to make sure they had the best products available to them as reliability was key. They did not want to be limited to a lightbox with a set graphic or image and were after a display that can be quickly and easily changed for each season.
The Solution
The new illuminated light boxes in the players tunnel create an undeniably powerful presence and allow them to get noticed by the opposition teams, fans and the media. Within 3 weeks, a total of 12 lightboxes were manufactured and installed in all three locations, all of which were different sizes ranging from 5000mm x 2000mm to some that were smaller than a metre. It was decided to opt for the 60mm range as it’s the slimmed LED lightbox on the market and avoids sticking out into the corridor more than it needs to. for the best homogeneous glow, we went for the backlit option which gives the most even spread of light across the image.
Each lightbox was fitted with high quality, printed fabrics that are fully recyclable and PVC material. The fabrics can be easily replaced without the need for a specialist fitter, meaning they are able to change the image, marketing idea or creativity themselves. This contributed to a larger vision DIS was aiming to fulfil at Wolves. The frame itself was powdercoated to black so that it worked well with the orange colouring in the players tunnel.
With a lifetime warranty on the Lumina range, DIS felt confident in our quality of work. All of our units are attached with serial numbers, so we can assess the electrical content of all lightboxes quickly and efficiently to diagnose any issues.

"When we were approached by Wolves we knew straight away we wanted to work with DPI on this. This job demanded the best quality on the market and one we could trust. We have worked with DPI for many years so had full confidence they could deliver the top-quality lightboxes I designed. By the looks on the players faces when they saw them for the first time, we were proved right!!"
